Welcome to the first page of my webcyclopedia. This is a new project, as I've not seen anything like it on the web.
The webcyclopedia is a new initiative, currently only supported by me (Iede Snoek). What it will be in the future is an interactive encyclopedia of music. And since I am not going to write all these articles myself, I ask you to join to write an article or column on a certain subject. How you can contribute to this project? Well, just look at the bottom of the page where you can find some guidelines.
Why undertake a project of this magnitude? Well, first it is an experiment. If it succesfull we'll see what happens, perhaps a proper domain, an extensive search engine, who knows. For the moment I do it for two reasons. First, I am a musicologist with a keen interest in all things musical. Secondly I am interested in the possibilities that the Web has to offer when it comes to reference and study on a certain subject.
Well, contributing is easy. Just send an email with the text of your article to webcyclopedia@muziek.demon.nl. In the subject line place the following: Subject: <your subject> Keywords: <Keywords>
Well, there are two ways to do that. The first is to add some links to the pictures or the music, and I will make the links on the page. The second is to actually send them with the email. I prefer the first way as it saves space on the webserver.
